Petrol Engines in the BMW Group/ PSA Peugeot Citroën Cooperation.

The new engine family is a significant move for both partners in fulfilling the self-commitment assumed by European car makers within their European Association (ACEA), promising to reduce fleet consumption and, as a result, CO 2 emissions to 140 g/km by the year 2008. The engines developed within the Project are able for the first time to elegantly solve the conflict of interests between demanding engine technologies and cost pressure in the small and compact car segment. The Project confirms that it is by all means economically possible to build fuel-efficient power units with innovative technologies also in the lower car segments. The turbocharged fuel injection power unit combines the torque curve of a diesel with the benefits of a modern reciprocating-piston engine. Maximum torque of 240 Nm or 177 lb-ft comes at just 1,400 rpm, remaining virtually unchanged all the way to 4,000 rpm.

This ensures significant thrust and muscle from low engine speeds, powerful acceleration, a perfect response, and maximum driving pleasure. Together with its maximum output of 105 kW/143 bhp at 5,500 rpm, this engine guarantees sporting performance wherever you goTorque and Output Diagram. Four-cylinder gasoline engine with fullyvariable valve drive (85 kW/115 bhp).

Peugeot 307 Hybride HDi Manual

Series hybrid: In this configuration, the internal combustion engine (ICE) drives a generator to produce electrical power. The electric motor uses this energy and the battery to drive the vehicle. In other words, there is no mechanical link between the ICE and the wheels. The long energy conversion chain (thermal ? mechanical ? electrical ? mechanical) reduces the efficiency of this type of powertrain.

• This extremely corrosive acid is formed when certain types of synthetic rubber, found in some O-rings, oil seals, fuel hoses etc, are exposed to temperatures above 400°C. The rubber changes into a charred or sticky substance containing the acid. Once formed, the acid remains dangerous for years. If it gets onto the skin, it may be necessary to amputate the limb concerned.
• When dealing with a vehicle which has suffered a fire, or with components salvaged from such a vehicle, wear protective gloves and discard them after use.

Peugeot Citroen Noise and Vibration Optimisation of a Gasoline Engine

Wednesday, June 11, 2014 | Labels: | 0 comments |

The vibratory and acoustic behaviour of the internal combustion engine is a highly complex one, consisting of many components that are subject to loads that vary greatly in magnitude and which operate at a wide range of speeds. The TU5JP engine is currently used for a number of vehicle platforms produced by PSA, including the successful “Super mini” class car, the Citroen Saxo. The block, head and transmission were constructed of predominantly low-order hexahedral elements, whilst the ancillaries were modelled using a combination of high order tetrahedral, shell and beam elements wherever appropriate.

The technical approach detailed here is representative of Ricardo’s standard methods applied to the analysis of the powertrain to optimise its noise and vibration characteristics. Modal Analysis, Dynamic Load Calculation, The excitation loads acting on the engine were calculated using ENGDYN. ENGDYN is used to predict the time-domain response of the 3-dimensional vibration of the coupled crank train and cylinder block system with non-linear oilfilms at each of the main journal bearings. Forced Response and Acoustic Analysis. baseline designs and a difference diagram comparing the two. These figures indicate negligible improvement due to this modification.
